About the game
№ 003A balloon can't steer. To get somewhere, find the wind that's going there.
Windpost is a free hot air balloon game for the web browser, made by Toyjar. The balloon can't steer, only rise and sink, so you change direction by changing height: the sky has layers of wind (3 in spring, 5 by winter), each blowing its own way. Ride them to deliver 21 letters across 4 seasons on a tiny planet. One button; a full year takes about 10 minutes, on a phone, tablet or computer.
You fly a hot air balloon around a tiny planet, delivering letters to the houses waiting for them. A balloon can't steer; it can only rise and sink. But the sky is layered with winds, each blowing its own way, so climb a little and you drift off in a new direction. To get somewhere, find the wind that's going there.
Hold to fire the burner, let go to sink slowly: that's the only control. Drift low over a house's ring and the letter drops on its own, and the closer to the bullseye the better. Deliveries refill your fuel; run dry and the balloon comes down. A run is one year: spring morning, summer noon, autumn dusk, winter night. Each season ends with a golden letter for that season's landmark, and when it arrives the new season's colours sweep across the planet.

How it plays
04- 01
Change height, change wind
You can't steer, only rise and sink. But each layer of wind blows its own way: climb a little and you drift somewhere new. Arrows on the altimeter show every wind; the one toward your letter glows.
- 02
Through the bullseye
Drift low over a ring and the letter drops at the closest point: Delivered, Precise or Bullseye. Better drops earn more fuel, and deliveries in a row without a bump raise your Tailwind to ×3.
- 03
One run, one year
Paper cranes on a spring morning, thermals at summer noon, thunderclouds and turning winds at autumn dusk, the jet stream on a winter night. Each season ends with a golden letter to its landmark.
- 04
Keep a postcard
Any run can end in a postcard: the whole planet with your route traced across it, a handwritten note of your letters, a stamp and a postmark. Save it or share it.

FAQ
16What is Windpost?
Windpost is a free hot air balloon game for the web browser, made by Toyjar. The balloon can't steer, only rise and sink, so you change direction by changing height: the sky has layers of wind (3 in spring, 5 by winter), each blowing its own way. Ride them to deliver 21 letters across 4 seasons on a tiny planet. One button; a full year takes about 10 minutes, on a phone, tablet or computer.
How do you play Windpost?
In Windpost you hold to fire the burner and rise, and let go to sink. You can't steer, but each layer of wind blows its own way, so change height to change direction. Drift low over a house's ring to drop its letter; aim for the bullseye. Letters refill fuel; land on empty and the run ends. Fire the burner: Hold the mouse, Space, ↑, W or Enter (desktop) / Hold anywhere on screen (phone); Sink: Let go (desktop) / Lift your finger (phone).
Is Windpost free?
Yes. Windpost is free to play, like every game on Toyjar.
Do I need to download Windpost?
No. Windpost is a web game: it opens in your browser, with nothing to install and no account to create.
Can I play Windpost on my phone?
Yes. Windpost runs in the web browser, so it works on phones, tablets and computers alike: open the page and start playing.
How long is a round of Windpost?
Windpost is played in 5–10-minute runs. Start any time, stop any time.
How do you steer in Windpost if the balloon can't turn?
In Windpost you steer by changing height. Each layer of wind blows toward its own compass heading, faster the higher up, so climb or sink into another and you drift with it. Altimeter arrows show each layer's direction, and the one heading for your letter glows; paper cranes and clouds drift with their layer too. The winds slowly shift within a season, so routes can't be learned by heart.
How many seasons does Windpost have, and what changes in each?
A run of Windpost is one year of 4 seasons. Spring · Morning: 3 layers of wind, paper cranes and first-flight tips (4 letters). Summer · Noon: a fourth, higher wind and thermals that save fuel (5). Autumn · Dusk: thunderclouds, falling leaves and a mid-season turn of the winds (6). Winter · Night: the jet stream up top, lanterns, snow and the aurora (6). Counts include the golden letter.
What is the golden season's letter in Windpost?
In Windpost the season's letter is the golden last letter of each season, for its landmark: Blossom Mill in spring, Cape Lighthouse in summer, Summit Pagoda in autumn, the Polar Tree Post Office in winter. It appears once the others are delivered, and they lead you its way. Deliver it and the next season's colours sweep the planet; it refuels you, and leftover fuel becomes bonus points.
What happens when you run out of fuel in Windpost?
In Windpost the burner and its pilot flame both use fuel. Deliveries refill it, more for an accurate drop, and cranes add a little. Bumps and lightning strikes cost fuel and break your streak but don't end the run. On an empty tank you can't fire the burner: the balloon sinks, and 1.5 seconds after it lands the run is over. A letter delivered on the way down still counts and refuels you.
How do postmarks and scoring work in Windpost?
In Windpost the closer a letter lands to the bullseye, the better its postmark: Delivered, Precise or Bullseye, worth 1×, 1.5× or 2.5× its 100 points, plus up to 100 for a delivery within 40 seconds. Deliveries in a row without a bump lift your Tailwind to ×3, and the music grows with it. Season's letters start at 500, paper cranes give 20, and leftover fuel scores at each season's end.
Can you keep playing Windpost after winter?
Yes. In Windpost, delivering winter's golden letter completes A year of winds: the four seasons' colours flash across the planet and a flock of paper cranes takes off. Then you can choose Fly into year 2. The seasons start again from spring with faster winds, thunderclouds from the start and less fuel per delivery, and it's all about the score. Each year after that gets a little harder.
Can I keep a postcard of my flight in Windpost?
Yes. When a run of Windpost ends, tap Keep a postcard on the results to make one: the whole planet with your route traced across it on the left, and on the right a handwritten note of your letters and bullseyes, your score, a season stamp and a postmark. Long-press or right-click to save it; on devices that support sharing you can share it directly.
Does Windpost save my progress?
Windpost keeps your best score, the total number of letters you've delivered and your sound and language settings in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, so clearing the browser's site data resets them. Every run starts again in spring.
What languages is Windpost available in?
Windpost is available in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.
Who made Windpost?
Windpost is made by Toyjar, an independent label for free browser games you can play without downloading anything. It was released on October 7, 2026.
